Naula (Nora) von der Linde arrived home in April 2020 she was already almost one year old. She was whelped on June 13, 2019, but due to COVID and Petra’s health, she joined the pack in April next year. Her motto is Don’t even think so! I am the boss! On the positive side, she is independent though very obedient. However, when she decides you have to pay the price: you pay the price. During the NAVHDA UPT test, she did a terrific duck search job, but then sadly, she got the duck, swam to the shore, approached me, and dropped the duck at a 10-foot distance …
What the hell! Fast forward to UT testing one year later. The first bird was perfect. The second bird, the gunners missed, and the game was over! Oh well, back to square one: obedience!
Fast forward to September 2024. Hunting season north of Matagami. Sunny day, perfect temperature! We were hunting with both dogs Nora and Coco. Both dogs went on point, a few steps forward and a flock of five tetras exploded! Me and Licia took the shot and sent the dogs! Coco got her bird and brought it back to Licia. Naula went deeper into the wood. I moved into the thick cover, and I spotted Naula coming back with the bird. Called Licia asking her to call Naula, and she did it. Naula passed by me and I assumed she went to Licia. A few moments after she was at my side, I sent her again in the direction of the third bird. 15 minutes after here she is again with the third bird! Fine, walked back to the trail; surprise: Naula had not brought the second bird to Licia! What the hell, we gave an order she did not comply! Aligned the dog with the direction I saw her in the wood, and sent both dog again; five minutes after we had the third bird!

Late fall, duck hunting a nice flock of a few Canada geese passing over us. Take the shoot one geese down about 50 yards into the lake. Coco went in grabbed the geese and swam back in my direction! Nice, but, wait where is Naula? Suddenly, I saw two heads swimming in my direction one dragging the goose and one empty-handed. Naula has stoled the goose to Coco.
A relaxing day, puppies are looked after by grandparents …
